I recently had a gentleman contact me with a few questions and thought I would share my replies.
I definitely welcome these request.
1. Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
I am a native of Mexico City, MX. My grandfather was an American lawyer for the American Embassy in Mexico City, met my grandmother and had a few children. Lived in Mexico for the rest of his life but when his children were old enough, he sent them back to the states to boarding schools so they could get a better education. Due to that, my father grew up very “Americanized” and though he went back to Mexico after graduating from a military academy in Kentucky, married my mother and had a family, he eventually ended up moving back to the states. I basically grew up in Irvine, CA and I fondly remember my upbringing in Orange County. I lived there my entire adult life. In 2004, I opened up a import/export business and leased a warehouse in Otay Mesa, SD. Because our business grew so much, I made the decision to move closer and been in San Diego since summer of 2005. In 2009, I lost my business due to the economic crisis (and some mistakes made by the partnership, against my will) and found myself unemployed for a year and ½. I have been working full time again since Oct of 2011 and it certainly has been a humbling, but also eye opening experience. Having my own business, I realized first hand for the first time how government is not small business friendly and how this out of control bureaucracy has choked the growth of our economy and the American Dream. I want to change that, because I truly believe that America was built on innovation, small businesses and the liberty for each individual to pursue their paths and dreams. (please know that my stance on immigration are- come here legally, like my family and I did, and be a model citizen, cherish the gifts this country is giving you and teach others to do the same).
2. What are the duties and responsibilities of the central committee?
This is a summarized list of main duties and responsibilities: Attend Monthly Central Committee Meetings to give advice and consent to plans and activities of Officers and Directors, act as chief fundraiser for districts, organize district-wide candidate recruitment drives, especially in unaffiliated areas, work on leads in unaffiliated counties, and aid Executive Director in new county affiliation, ensure that local party plans are carried out, and maintain activity over long term, act as information liaison between County Chairs and RP headquarters. Vet local endorsements of any candidates wishing to run under the party.
3. Why do you want to be on the central committee?
I feel that the parties have lost their way. I don’t have a problem with difference in ideology. That’s what diversity and America were founded on. However, I do have a problem with the lack of values and honesty that has plagued our political parties. At least in my party, I want to restore principle and ethics and bring back an honest system that will help ALL Americans prosper. Not just the friends of law makers. Regardless of the ideology that Americans choose, we MUST bring back honesty.
4. What specific ideas do you have that will make the SDRP more robust and successful in its mission to elect conservatives to public office?
First and foremost, I want to make sure that anyone in the party understands that this is the party of Small and Limited Government, Individual Liberty and Constitutional Laws. This means that those of us vetting and endorsing candidates MUST understand our Constitution, respect it, follow it, and uphold any candidate that comes into our party to know it, respect it and follow it.
5. Any ideas on how to attract youth/minorities to the party?
Yes, as a minority, I know that most minorities are most likely yearn for freedom. However, our party has not been the best at reaching out to them. When I speak to Hispanics, it is clear they agree with the principles that our Founders put forward. We come here for that very reason. But the media and the liberal machine, along with public education, have certainly helped them feel like victims and give out "freebies" in order to get votes. I would like to spread the message of liberty and self-reliance to those that come into this country, as well as those just “liberating” themselves from their households; and teach them how to become productive adults (or productive citizens, in the case of immigrants) and to make them understand that government dependency is nothing more than modern day slavery. The same dependency they leave their homes or countries for. Unfortunately, there are “Conservatives” that have also contributed to this “enslavement” of people by growing the federal government and debt, regardless of what our party stands for. It’s time to teach our communities that we can, and should, take the government out of our communities and once again, start believing in each other and help each other and our country prosper. I believe in my heart that we are kind and generous people and that we do not need to be forced to be good people.

I hope this gives you a little bit more of an understanding of who I am, what I stand for and what I want for our country.
